Champions are made in Casper.
For more than twenty years, the College National Finals Rodeo has made its home and legacy in Casper, Wyoming. Nowhere else in the world can you find the most elite college athletes and animals going head to head in the dirt, competing to be crowned the best. More than a rodeo, CNFR is a celebration of our western tradition and athletic excellence that once you’ve experienced, you’ll never forget.
The CNFR is the best of the best in college rodeo. It is where the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association crowns individual event champions in saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, bull riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, breakaway roping, and goat tying. National team championships are also awarded to both men’s and women’s teams. Over 400 cowboys and cowgirls from over 100 universities and colleges compete in Casper each year. Contestants compete all year in one of the NIRA’s 11 regions for a chance to rope or ride at the CNFR.
The top three students in each event, and top two men’s and women’s teams from the NIRA’s 11 regions will qualify for the CNFR.

The 2023 College National Finals Rodeo is on its way to Casper this June. Come support the NIRA Foundation in providing scholarships to CNFR participants at the Annual Style Show at the Ramkota Hotel and Conference Center on Saturday, June 17 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.
Although the event is called a style show and the audience is entertained by the CINCH All Star Contestants displaying clothing donated by CINCH and Cruel Girl, the focus is on generating funds for the Foundation. The live auction and silent auction generate $15,000 to $20,000 each year for this worthy cause.
The Foundation was created in 1994 within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code to carry out certain educational and charitable activities in connection with the sport of collegiate rodeo.
A few activities include: Injured Athlete Relief Fund, Historical Preservation Fund, Scholarship Fund, and Rawhide (Rodeo Athletes on Wellness) Fund.
There will be door prizes, wine on each table, games and raffles, and many auction items. Each college rodeo region brings in items unique to their area which gives attendees the opportunity to acquire items not otherwise available in Casper.

CNFR Fact Sheet
Who: Approximately 400 of the nation's top college rodeo athletes representing more than 100 institutions of higher learning from 11 regions will compete in nine rodeo events.
What: National championships for individuals and teams will be determined this week.
Events: Men compete in saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, bull riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, and team roping. Women compete in barrel racing, breakaway roping, goat tying, and team roping.
Format: Individuals complete three times with the top 12 advancing to the Championship Finals.
