The Casper Fire-EMS Department proudly invites the community to join local first responders for the 25th Anniversary 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at the Ford Wyoming Center.
This year's Memorial Stair Climb will be held on Saturday, September 12 - not September 11.
The event is held in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, while honoring the firefighters, paramedics, law enforcement officers, and other first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice that day.
The event will begin with participant check-in from 7:30 am to 8:00 am, followed by an opening ceremony at approximately 8:30 am. The stair climb will begin immediately following the opening and will continue until 1:00 pm.
Check-in will close at 12:00 pm and there will be no late or afternoon check-in after that time.
Participants may choose to climb the stairs or walk the arena floor, with both options designed to represent the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. Nine laps on the stairs will equal 110 stories, while 18 laps on the arena floor will equal 110 stories. Upon completing the equivalent of 110 stories, each participant will ring the fire bell in tribute to the firefighters who climbed the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb serves as a living memorial to the 343 firefighters who lost their lives while responding to the attacks, while also honoring the law enforcement officers, other first responders, and civilians who made the ultimate sacrifice that day. The event also provides an opportunity to remember the many survivors and first responders whose lives have continued to be affected by the events of September 11.
"Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember the nearly 3,000 people whose lives were lost on September 11, 2001," said Casper Fire-EMS Department Chief Jacob Black. "This memorial gives our community an opportunity to come together to honor their lives and recognize the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who ran toward danger that day. Each step we take is a reminder that we will never forget their sacrifice, their service, or the lasting impact September 11 had on our nation."
The event is open to the public, and first responders are especially encouraged to participate in solidarity with their fallen brothers and sisters. Participants 12 years of age and older are welcome. Individuals under the age of 16 must have an adult present. A signed waiver will be required at check-in.
Registration will be available at the event. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and athletic shoes and are encouraged to bring a water bottle.
Attendees should park in the north parking lot of the Ford Wyoming Center and enter through the main doors to access the arena floor. Spectators are welcome and may observe the event from designated areas.
Memorial badges honoring fallen FDNY firefighters will be available during the event for a donation, with all proceeds benefiting the Wyoming Heroes Fund. Memorial T-Shirts will also be available for preorder at the event, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Wyoming Heroes Fund. Information on T-shirt preorders, memorial badges, and supporting the Wyoming Heroes Fund is available on the Wyoming Heroes Fund Facebook page. The Wyoming Heroes Fund provides funds and support to the families of firefighters, emergency medical services workers, and law enforcement officers in times of need following a serious injury or death of a first responder.
The Casper Fire-EMS Department and Natrona County first responder agencies invite the community to join them on Saturday, September 12, 2026, for this important 25th anniversary memorial. Together, we will Honor. Remember. Never Forget.
The Casper Fire-EMS Department extends its gratitude to the many agencies, organizations, and individuals who help make this annual memorial possible, as well as to the Ford Wyoming Center for its continued support of the event.
